5 steps to Turning Your Passion Into Work

“The only way to do great work is to love what you do”

How to Turn your Passion Into Work

1. Make a List

Write down a list of all the things that you enjoy and interest you. This can be things that you do as a hobby such as sailing, dancing travelling, coaching or helping others. Let your mind run wild with all of the things you love!

2. Narrow down & Prioritise

Once you've got your list, you'll want to start narrowing down your Top 3 and prioritising them in ranking order from 1-10. 1 being the most passionate about and 10 being the least passionate about on the list. When you start off your list may start to look a little something like this... 1. Coaching 2. Running 3. Meditating

4. Art & Design 5. Travelling

So on and so forth... until all of your passions and hobbies are in prioritised ranking order.

3. Create a List of Values

Now repeat the process for your values and prioritise them in order again. This is important to help you understand the HOW and WHY you do what you do.

As a source of inspiration some values might be... Helping others, Giving back to the community, Education and Learning, Money or Personal Freedom. You can use google's help if you get stuck and find a list of values and choose the ones that you feel resonate with you the most as a person.

4. Time for a Brainstorming Session

Okay, now that you have your Top 3 list of passions and Top 3 values you can now start to generate ideas around what you could turn into a business or what your future role at work should be.

What you want to do here is to start connecting up the dots. For example, if your list looks a little something like this... Top 3 Passions: Coaching, Running and Meditating

Top 3 Values: Helping others, Education and Personal freedom You can start brainstorming some ideas of connecting them together and using your values as a channel or platform to express your hobbies. Perhaps you could start a blog to educate others on more healthy or conscious ways of living or perhaps you might think about creating your own guided courses to teach people more.

5. Go Get it!

Eventually after connecting your Values and Passions together and exploring ways of integrating them both you should now have a few ideas that really resonate with you the most. The next step is looking at how you can implement those ideas -

This is where you will need to look at some research to gain some inspiration to kick-start your journey and find a mentor or someone who has done something similar who you can learn from. And my final piece of advice...

Don't be put off or let procrastination set in - Just go for it!

Don't let family and friends put you off or let yourself talk you into self-doubt. Often enough we get scared and give up just before we're about to make it past the finish line.

So get out there, go turn your passions into a reality and leave your mark on the world! You've got this!
